Virtual Reality


Extension of driving simulation activities using virtual space, virtual prototypes and virtual reality technologies allow a 3D interactive visualization as well as restitution to the user of a stereoscopic viewing, sound and possibly tactile feedback. These sensorial restitutions are provided by an image generator, coupled with peripherals like head mounted displays, stereoscopic glasses, position sensors or other force feedback devices.


At Renault, these technologies are being used in various domains, like vehicle styling and engineering (visualizations of vehicle architecture during the upstream phase), ergonomics, perceived quality, interior ambient lighting as well as marketing (sales tool).
